When the Rocks do it Better

Staying quiet about Jesus cripples you more than it does Him.

Why? Because He’s got a backup plan.

“If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Luke 19:40

Don’t let the rocks do it better than you.

The Pharisees told Jesus to quiet His disciples' praise. It was disruptive, it was loud. But even if the disciples were silenced, Jesus assured them that the creation would praise in their place because when God shows up, His presence and His goodness demand praise.

When your life is so changed by God, praise is your natural gut reaction. When we suppress this, our privilege is passed along to lesser things. We don't just miss it, we miss out and we will wonder why we feel unfulfilled. Friend, you are not God's backup plan. You are plan A, so it's time to live like it.

Why do we stay silent? We don't protect our own name when we stay silent, and we certainly don't silence God, we ultimately close ourselves off to His presence. As Jesus looked over Jerusalem and saw all of the people who would not recognize Him, He wept (verse 41). "If only, on this day, you would know what would bring you peace..." (emphasis mine).

I'm pretty sure that there are no other words that scare me more coming out of the mouth of Jesus than, "If only".

Our human reality is this; we will praise someone's name. Will it be God's name or your own? You will not find fulfillment speaking your own name and you will not find peace in being silent about His. God doesn’t want the rocks to out-praise you. And you shouldn't let them.

God can't bless the rocks like He can bless you. He can't change the rocks hearts for greater things like He can change your heart for better things.

Praise Him for what you have today. Praise Him for what He did on the cross. Praise Him for how He has changed your life. Praise brings His peace, and His glory.

He is crazy about you. He wants to use YOU for great and powerful things on this Monday. Speak His Name! Dance in worship, smile, pray, serve with humility, rise up to the need and keep your eyes wide open to praise Him as you go.

Let’s do this ❤️

With Love,

Em
