You weren’t created to wander.
And you weren’t created to wonder about your life or worry about the next steps.
God’s Word says that even migrating birds know how, where, and when to migrate (Jeremiah 8:7) The birds have purpose to their flight because it's what they were created to do.
Wandering in search of purpose or a calling doesn’t feel like it’s a choice we make, right? It never feels intentional but rather, accidental, like we couldn’t see it coming. As if it snuck up on us and now carries us to one unknown location after another.
Side note: When we wander, it seems like everyone else has their purpose and path laid out. Wandering magnifies everyone else's focus and clarity.
But wandering is something that we actually step into all on our own.
Wandering spiritually is a small choice we make to choose our own feelings in the moment over God’s never-changing truth. Wandering isn’t helplessness, it’s self-righteousness. We actually get lost in ourselves. Until we worship.
"Let's go to His dwelling place; Let's worship at His feet." Psalm 132:7
If God gave birds with tiny brains the ability to pick up at the right time and fly in the right direction, then we can’t ever deny that God has given us everything that we need to know— wandering has no place in His design for our lives.
Remember Whose You are. You are loved deeply, made free by Jesus' blood, and you get to live the life of a redeemed daughter who has a seat at His table.
When seasons of wandering leave you feeling unknown, remember that you are fully known by God, so choose to meet Him in His word every day— it’s how He speaks to us. It literally lights our path; every step, every season, every decision. Your purpose is there because your freedom is found there. Your life's Guide is there. Your Savior is there.
You were never created to wander.
With Love,
Em
