Are you aching for a comeback?
Fact: today matters more than yesterday.
I want to remind you that Jesus chooses to use us in our mess. And no, it doesn’t matter what the mess looks like. If you’re holding onto a mistake or a season of drifting that has left you feeling stuck, all you have to do is look at Peter’s life to see that even the worst offenses can be used to make Jesus known.
Peter was one of the 12 disciples and served Jesus faithfully as he left his life and family to follow Jesus. Then came his big mistake; at a pivotal hour he denied knowing Jesus, His master and dear friend, out of fear as the authorities nailed Jesus to the cross.
But Peter's story wasn’t over. In fact, the best was yet to come. Acts chapter 2 shows Peters comeback. And friends, it’s bold. It’s dangerous. It’s revolutionary. It’s exactly what he was made to do.
After Jesus' death and resurrection, Peter addressed a crowd, saying, "Listen carefully to what I say" Acts 2:14b. He went on to share the truth about Jesus, setting fear aside, calling the people to repent, believe, and to be baptized. The crowd was cut to the heart and immediately spurred to action.
Our mistakes don’t tie our hands to an eternal scoreboard. Our mistakes, when surrendered back to Jesus, point towards HIS goodness.
Ready for a comeback? Rest in this; you are not the hero of your own story, Jesus is.
You don’t become unworthy of the mission when you slip up or drift away from Him. With your eyes refocused on Him, you actually become proof of His goodness and His ability to take broken things and use them for kingdom-sized moments.
The comeback will change you because any step towards Jesus is a step in the right direction.
So step towards Him today. Refocus your attention and remember that He doesn’t just make old things new, He also restores things that have rusted a bit.
Today’s that day. Let’s go!
With Love,
Em
