Stop Looking for a Miracle

I don't offer my daughter bandaids much anymore.

No matter the injury, she will beg (BEG) for a bandaid. And, no matter how many times I tell her to leave it on, she cannot resist taking it off within ten minutes. Then she asks for another.

We've now been practicing the art of letting our boo boo's "air out".

In painful seasons of my life, I've also boycotted the healing process. Isn't healing supposed to be rejuvenating and strengthening? Shouldn't God show up miraculously to increase our testimony as we trust His healing hand?

Doesn't our world need a much more "soothing" process of healing right now?

How God brings healing + change to our life will likely be more humbling than miraculous.

Lean in; God may use an annoying situation or a stubborn person. The healing or change may require you to go the long way around. God may ask you to let go of obviously good and important things. Healing will feel a bit backwards. Change will have bad timing.

You can count on it.

2 Kings 5:1 tells us about a man named Naaman who was "A valiant soldier, but he had leprosy." Naaman was expecting that God would heal him through the prophet Elisha in a more obvious way, "I thought that He would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy." (verse 11)

Naaman's response sure sounds a lot like mine at times; “I expected something greater than this.”

Instead, Elisha told Naaman to travel for miles to a smaller river to be healed of his leprosy. Despite having a crummy attitude, Naaman did walk to the river and was healed and restored to health even greater than when he was first diagnosed with leprosy.

Because the healing process that God gives may be incredibly humbling, but it will leave you better than you've ever been before.

So will you continue walking with a limp because the healing doesn’t seem to make any sense?

We need to be changed more than we need to be healed.

We need to understand true humility more than we need to experience a miracle.

Healing begins when we do it God's way. Leave your expectations at the door, but bring your limp with you. Agree to the process and agree with God's heart for you.

So say yes today. Stop taking off the bandage that God is trying to give you. No more questioning God's methods and timelines.

The world needs to see a body of believers right now who is willing to endure the healing process with others, walk in humility, and who can ultimately say, "I'll take on your hurt because God has changed me through my own."

You've got this, friends, because He's REALLY got you.

With love,

Em
