I often think about the idea of “seeing” God in my life. I imagine a very visual move of God in people's faces because I've seen it. I imagine people rising up out of the water after Baptism, changed and ready live fully alive because I've seen it.
I've also lived many days seeing only what's right in front of me, and nothing more.
So, I have to address what most people won’t; Life with just a glimpse of God or a glance of Jesus makes for a disillusioned life. We can live our entire life blindly. Never truly seeing Jesus.
“Blepei” is the Greek word meaning to see at a “quick glance”. This is the quick glance on Easter and Christmas, totally missing Him everyday in between.
“Theorei” is Greek for seeing with “greater intensity”. For me, this meant growing up in church, but still living blindly because I got hung up on the religious rules instead of following Jesus open-handedly.
“Eiden” is Greek for seeing with “understanding, having insight”
Seeing God and understanding that knowing Him changes EVERYTHING. The result? Pursuing Him. Loving His people. Forgiving. Resting our head on His love + grace.
We’ve got to stop living life seeing God only at a distance. It’s not enough. God gives insight and understanding to anyone who asks.
So, will we be women who ask? Let’s do this, girls. God, open our eyes today!
With Love,
Em
