Choosing to Believe.

Believing God is not always my first reaction.

I believe IN Him, but based on the worry that still creeps in, it’s clear that I can turn His solid promises into mere suggestions on a dime. As we just celebrated the Resurrection, I kept coming back to a part of Jesus’ death and resurrection that hits really close to home; who believed Jesus and who didn't.

Here's an interesting observation; the Pharisees may have taken Jesus’ resurrection talk a little more seriously than His own disciples (John 20:1-10). The Pharisees posted guards at Jesus’ tomb expecting a possible event (theft, a miracle, maybe even the resurrection?) But the disciples came to the tomb and assumed first that Jesus’ body had been stolen. Not resurrected. Stolen. They expected a dead body, not the risen one Jesus had promised them.

Here’s the connection: The worry that we allow in our mind instead of standing confident in God’s promises is no different than Mary and Peter standing in front of the empty tomb and crying “theft” even after Jesus promised His resurrection.

We’ve got to choose to believe what God has said about our lives or we will miss the insane blessing of His promises.

We have to choose to believe that He will provide. That He will heal. That He will sustain. That He will carry us. That He will draw us in. That He forgives.

Remember, His promises are a big deal not only because He says them but because He KEEPS them. You can believe Him. Run in His direction today with great expectation! He is perfectly GOOD on His word.

With Love,

Em
