I'm so glad you're here! My name is Emily...
...but you can call me Em. I’m a ministry wife and momma of two girls, 5 & 7, and one huge puppy (He’s a Newfie). My husband is a campus pastor at Northridge Church in the town outside of Detroit, MI where I grew up.
I do a lot of things (name a job, I’ve probably done it), but what sets my soul on fire is to write about Jesus. When I read the Bible, I get totally lost in it. My soul feels most at home here, however it’s anything but comfortable most of the time. I’ve come to accept that what I find in His word can’t stay in my journal. I write because I know God uses His truth in ways I can’t imagine.
So, here is my daily attempt to encourage you with truth, easy or hard. It’s my job to share it, just know it’s been prayed for all the way to your computer screen and every word is written with the love I’ve found in Jesus.

You’ve been told how to live as a Christ-follower, but putting it into practice is harder than you thought. I know this all too well, just get in line behind me, ok?
You’ve read the Bible before, but it may not have connected with your heart and soul and you’re wondering what you’re doing wrong.

You love worship, connecting with other women, and even Bible studies, but God’s word remains a bit (or a lot) intimidating.

I can imagine that you’ve walked through rough waters and it left you with the choice to follow God or abandon Him altogether. My journey with God’s word came directly out of the most painful season of my life (more on that to come).
​
But you’re here. Willing to read, explore, and hope. God won’t turn you away. And I’ve been cheering you on for longer than you know. You’re a part of the With Love Blog huddle, so don’t go anywhere, ok?
I chose Jesus at a very young age, but there were a lot of rules to follow.
I’m one of those “forever Christian” girls. I was born and raised in the church, and was honestly lost without it. I won a lot of Bible drills in Sunday School, but that couldn’t prepare me for the painful ministry season that my husband and I endured about 5 years after we were married.
God allowed us to have everything taken away from us until it was just me and God at our rental house dining table. Through clenched teeth and tear-stained cheeks, I managed to open my Bible and demand answers from Him.
The demands slowly turned into a dependence over time that changed me. His word came to life when I realized that He was there, in the pages, in the stories, and in the moment with me.
My heart aches for you to see Him there too. So let’s go together! But first, let’s huddle up.
Today is that 4th quarter moment with a jumping chest bump as you run out onto the field!
